Martha Pauline Teffeteller Birchfield, affectionately known to friends at "B.", Marti, of Maryville, TN., died Monday, March 5, 2001 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 29, 1947 in Blount County and was a longtime member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. She worked for Judge W. Dale Young as a Judicial Secretary, was organist/pianist for Forest Hill Baptist Church for 32 years; she enjoyed sports and played on the Forest Hill Church softball team for 25 years as pitcher. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Martha and Luther Teffeteller and Pauline and Avery "Abe" Braden. Survivors include: son, Steven Ray Birchfield of Greenback; grandson Garrett Cole Birchfield of Greenback; special friend, Amy Berrier of Greenback; former husband, DeWayne Birchfield of Greenback; father, Ray Gordon Teffeteller; mother, Wanda June Teffeteller both of Maryville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ron and Debbie Teffeteller of Maryville, Marion and Charlene Teffeteller of Greenback; nieces, Lori and Kelly Teffeteller of Maryville; nephew, Charlie Teffeteller of Greenback; special aunt, Trula Mae Eldridge of Chicago; special aunts and uncles, Elmer and Alice Millsaps, D.C. and Betty Payne, Chamliss and Frances Hill, all of Maryville; special great- aunt and great- uncle Annis and Rob Perkins of Maryville. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home with Rev. Bill White officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Cemetery for the interment service, where she will be buried beside her grandfather, Abe Braden, with Rev. Joe White officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at McCammon-Ammons- Click Funeral Home. Survivors: sons, Howard Boring, Earse Ledford, both of Maryville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Ella Beasley of North Carolina, Mrs. Florence Kirby, Mrs. Stella Boring, Mrs. Lou Cooper, all of Maryville; half-sisters, Mrs. Birdell Yates, Mrs. Leola Sparks, Mrs. Betty Kapeto, all of Maryville. Graveside services were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Happy Valley Cemetery with the Rev. Beecher Whitehead officiating.

Avery Braden, 75, Route 7, Maryville, TN., died Tuesday. He was a retired ALCOA employee and veteran of WWI. Survivors: daughter Mrs. Ray (Wanda) Teffeteller; brother, Hubert Braden; sisters, Mrs. Clay (Cora) Hall of Maryville, Mrs. Johnnie Thompson of Knoxville. Nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Forest Hill Baptist Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Harrill Funeral Home.

Charles Robert Braden, Sr., 69, of Maryville, TN., passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at UT Medical Center. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, retired from ALCOA, and a member of the Twenty Five Year Club. He was better known as ``The Growler.'' He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert ``Doc'' and Helen Parr Braden; and grandson, Michael James Allison. He is survived by his wife of forty nine years, Myrtle Lovingood Braden; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Diannia Braden of Maryville; daughters, Carol Braden Noce of Maryville and Lisa Braden Burchfield of Walland; grandchildren, Kathy Braden and Gregory Scott Allison both of Maryville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Tommy Abbott of Maryville, Jackie Kitts of Maryville, and Linda Albert of Greenback; several nieces and nephews; several friends and neighbors that meant so much to him; and special lifelong friend, Don Justus of Illinois. Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004 at Miller Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. George Macht and Rev. Keith Pierce officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.

Helen L. Braden, 78, of Maryville, TN., died Thursday, January 20, 1994, at Hill Haven Nursing Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Braden. Mrs. Braden was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Myrtle Braden of Maryville; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Harold Abbott, Jackie and Harold Kitts, all of Maryville, Linda and Jeffrey Albert of Lebanon, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren. Hubert "Doc" Braden, 68, of Maryville, TN., died of a heart attack at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a builder in the Blount County area for many years. Braden is survived by his wife, Helen Braden; son, Charles Braden; daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mary) Abbott, Mrs. L. C. (Jackie) Tipton, and Mrs. Jeffrey (Linda) Albert, all of Maryville; sisters, Mrs. Clay (Cora) Hall of Maryville, Mrs. Johnnie Thompson of Knoxville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until the funeral at 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCammon-Ammons Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hill Baptist Church.

M. L. Braden, who resided east of town died last Thursday after a brief illness. Funeral and burial occurred Saturday at Centennial Church. His wife preceded him to the other world many years ago. Several children are left to mourn the loss of a loving father. A good man has gone to his reward.

Venia Lou Braden, 83 of Maryville, died Monday at Colonial Hills Nursing Center. She attended Morningstar Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Conley Braden; daughters, Bonnie Best, Frances Sneed and Charlotte Spears; granddaughter, Brenda Best. Survivors include: son, William Braden of Maryville, grandchildren, Donna McNeilly of Maryville, Cynthia Clabough and Chara Spears, both of Louisville, David Braden of Knoxville, and Bobbie La Riche of New Jersey; several great grand-children; several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will meet at Grandview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Thursday for graveside service and interment with the Rev. Frank Easter officiating. William R. Braden, 87, died at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at his home, Route 7, Maryville, TN. The body will be removed from McCammon-Ammons to the home this afternoon.

Johnnie Anderson Brewer, 80, of Friendsville, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2005, at U.T. Medical Center. He was retired from ALCOA with 42 years and a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Preceded in death by: infant son, Stephen Anderson Brewer; parents, Joe and Mabel Brewer. Survivors: wife of 59 years, Ruth R. Wayne Burchfield, 56, of Maryville, TN passed away Monday, September 6, 2004, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Tripoli. Wayne was also a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: parents, Guy and Annie Burchfield; brothers, Charles R. Burchfield and Ralph E. Burchfield. Lela Frances Burnett, 100, of Maryville, passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at Asbury Place. She was a member of Logan's United Methodist Church. She was a principal and teacher at the school in Cades Cove before it became a part of the National Park. She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl Burnett Sr.; parents, John and Lila Clabough; brother, Rex Clabough; sisters, Beulah Gray and Ina Teffeteller.
