Birdie Rebecca Ratledge, 74, of Maryville, died Friday morning, March 24, 1995, at Asbury Acres Health Care Center. She was a member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church and preceded in death by husband James Taylor Ratledge. Survivors include: stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Don and Ruth Ratledge of Maryville; stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Betty and Bill Bowen of Georgia; five step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; special cousin and friend, Mabel Holbert of Maryville; several other cousins; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Earnest and Brownie Whitehead of Maryville. The funeral was held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Grubb and the Rev. Earl Taylor officiating. Interment service was at 2 p.m. Sunday at Salem Baptist Cemetery.

James "Bob" Robert Robinson, 70, of Friendsville, TN died Sunday, September 5, 2004, at University of Tennessee Hospital Knoxville. Known as "Roundman" to family and friends. Member of Memorial Baptist Church. He enjoyed visiting with his grandchildren and watching them play sports. He was retired from Vulcan Materials after 49 years of service. Preceded in death by father and mother, Quince and Bernice Robinson; stepmother, Lucy Robinson; brother, Tom Robinson; sisters, Imogene Brooks, Rene Franklin, Irene Cunningham; son-in-law, Vergil Clark; and father and mother-in-law, Ed and Mabel Tucker. Survivors include: wife of 47 years, Betty Robinson; children, Daniel and Brandy Robinson of Maryville, Tony and Debbie Robinson, Larry Robinson, James Robinson and Lisa Russell, Tammy and Doug Murphy, Vickie Clark and Don McGhee, all of Friendsville; grandchildren, Randi, Robbie, Kenna, Tyler, Heather, Nicholas, Elijah, Tasha, Ivy, and Shannon; brothers and sisters, Leon and Wanda Robinson of Chattanooga, Gene and Mildred Robinson of Maryville, Marie Burchfield, Nadine and Raymond Radford and Frank and Teresa Robinson, all of Greenback; many nieces and nephews; special friends of the family, Candy Robinson, J. J. Roberson, the Vulcan family and the Tennessee Tigers family. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2004, at Grandview Cemetery for graveside service and interment with the Rev. Larry Teaster officiating. Alice Julian Rose, 79, Knoxville, whose brother, Roy Julian, is a Maryville resident, died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday at Kay Nursing Home. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. Other survivors: sons, Randolph Rose of Lenoir City, Glen, Mike and J. B. Rose, all of Knoxville; daughters, Mrs. James Tarwater, Mrs. Ruth Pickens, Mrs. Paul Davis, Mrs. Vernon King, all of Knoxville; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. John (Trula) Blazier of Knoxville, Mrs. Lillie Hux of Ohio, Mrs. Mattie Reed of Florida. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Berry’s chapel. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Berry’s in Knoxville.

George Washington Russell, 76, died Sunday (02 Oct. 1949) at 2:55 a.m. at his home, Maryville, Route 1. Survivors: sister-in-law Mrs. William Russell, Louisville; a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at Laurel Bank Church, 3 p.m. Monday. Interment in church cemetery. The ministers will be Rev. Ben Kennedy and Rev. Will Linginfelter. The body will be removed to the church one hour before services.

Ida Russell, 76, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday (14 Sept. 1949) at her home. Survivors: four sons, Hubert, Knoxville; Lloyd, Otto, Roy, all of Maryville; one daughter, Mrs. L. T. Everett, Maryville. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Hopewell. Body will lie in state from 2 to 3 at the church. Rev. Ben Kennedy and Rev. W. H. Lingenfelter officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. McCammon-Ammons in charge.

John Harvey Russell, of Clover Hill died early Tuesday of Typhoid fever, after a sickness of ten days. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in Hopewell Church. Deceased was forty years old. He leaves a wife and five children and brothers and sisters to mourn their loss.
